When you arrive at the search page, a beginning list of data sets are provided for you. You may browse through the entire database by using the page navigation bar which appears the top and the bottom of the list. Clicking on the Next link takes you the next page of items in the list or you may navigate to a particular page in the list by clicking on one of the displayed page numbers. You can change the order in which the datasets are displayed in the list by selecting one of the sort order in the Order results by box and clicking on the Go button.
Usually you will need a more efficient method to discover datasets. Clicking on one or more of the filters which appear on the left side of page is one method for rapidly drilling down to a set of relevant datasets. Clicking, for example, "corn silage" in the Product category will return a list of only those datasets pertaining to corn silage. You can select additional filters such as location and a year to quickly narrow your search.
You may enter your own terms in the term input box at the top of the data list. A list of datasets containing one or more of your terms will be returned after you click the Go button. We strongly recommend that you always use the "Relevance" results order when searching on terms as your goal is to retrieve the most relevant datasets on the first one or two pages of your results list.
